If you try changing styles from the Menu bar at the top, the styles do change on the actual text but not in the preview despite the new style selection being shown in the Text and Font menu. It also changes when you pick styles which are italic or not italic. The font style in the preview does not change between Semi-Bold, Bold, Ultra-Bold, Heavy styles or between Light, Normal or Medium but does change when you go from Bold to Light for example. I have tried this using Barlow and Merriweather (both fonts downloaded from Google Fonts).
